Society of Appalachian Historians
Dec. 17, 2015
The Program Committee for the Seventh Annual Meeting of the Society of Appalachian Historians (SAH) invites proposals for single papers (abstracts of no more than 250 words) and entire sessions (overview and abstracts for each paper) for its annual meeting hosted by the Department of History of the University of Tennessee Knoxville and the East Tennessee Historical Society in Knoxville, Tennessee, May 22-24, 2016. The Society of Appalachian Historians seeks to provide a forum for the dissemination and discussion of innovative historical scholarship on any aspect of Appalachia and encourages submissions by historians exploring new areas of inquiry. Graduate students in particular are invited to present their research at this collegial and learned gathering. Proposals will be evaluated primarily on the originality and promise of the proposed work. To promote dialogue during the conference sessions, individuals whose proposals are accepted will be expected to submit completed papers for distribution to conference attendees in advance of the conference.
The deadline for proposals is February 19, 2016.
Please direct all proposals and questions via email to the Society of Appalachian Historians at Steven Nash and Tom Lee at SAH@mail.etsu.edu.
