W. Eugene and Joyce Cox Collection

Like many other local communities, the town of Keokee, Virginia, played a very important role in the coal boom of the region. The archive collection of W. Eugene and Joyce Cox Collection contains many articles describing Keokee in years past. This collection houses many important documents about Keokee and the Cox family. It includes biographical information on the Cox family, and a wealth of information on the town of Keokee. In 2007, the information in this collection was used when Cox wrote the book, Keokee, Virginia: Origins of an Appalachian Coal Mining Community. The collection also includes valuable research documents concerning local coal companies and railroads, the town of Keokee, pertinent court cases, newspaper clippings, and other useful sources about the region.
